Diversity with Inclusion: Meeting the Challenges of a Diverse Student Body

&
Collaboration Efforts for Successful Inclusion

Teaching to all students is what teachers are challenged to do. The "Diversity with Inclusion: Meeting the Challenges of a Diverse Student Body" workshop focused on identification and strategies that facilitate the inclusion of all students.

The "Collaboration Efforts for Successful Inclusion" session discussed essential concepts that for successful participation. Included were strategies for teacher-teacher, teacher-family, teacher-home school, and teacher-community collaborative efforts that promote inclusion for all students.

 

ILAVESNP was proud to present
"Differentiating Instruction in the Career and Technical Education Classroom: A Focus on English Language Learners and Other Perkins Targeted Students"

In this workshop, participants discussed the needs of English language learners and the characteristics of effective learning environments for all students, experienced a sample standards-based differentiated lesson and worked on applications for CTE classes, and used the strategies modeled by Kagan and Marzano.

 

ILAVESNP was proud to present
"Engaging Students' Attention"

This workshop was designed to help participants expand their knowledge of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, understand different learning styles and recognize the strengths of these students.

 

ILAVESNP was proud to present
"F.A.T. City"

During this presentation, we learned about the difficulties facing special education students in an inclusive classroom.  In addition, we received tools to help meet different student needs, acquire new classroom strategies, and build a network.

 

ILAVESNP was proud to present
"Teaching the Low-Skilled Learner in the Regular Classroom"

During this great session, we discussed ways to manage the challenges of dealing with a wide variety of abilities and skills in a single classroom setting.

During this great session, we:

Discovered the classroom from the ESL (English as a Second Language) standpoint

ILAVESNP was proud to present
"Getting past the ABC's to meet students' needs!"

This great session was presented by Karen Bourne, Karen Shaw, and Anita Moore.  Karen S. Bourne, B.S.Ed. has earned a Special Education degree from Eastern Illinois University with certifications in five separate areas and numerous hours of seminars, workshops and continuing education.  She has completed 29 years of teaching Special Education in public school systems.  Karen Shaw is an Instructor of Education, Social and Business Sciences.  Anita Moore is Director of Disability Support Services, Academic Support.

During this exciting session, we:
